There are five contests within the overall competition; which contest you enter will be determined by the size of your company (based on number of employees) and whether you operate in a ‘high’, ‘medium’ or ‘low’ environmental impact industry.

Industry environmental impact is based on FTSE4Good definitions to classify entrant companies.

All environmental impact classifications will be checked and verified by our environmental experts.

The Green List brings together the best companies from all five contests (see list below) to produce an overall winner.  There are also further special awards made for the company with the greenest workforce, for best outright environmental performance and for the best environmental training and motivational policies.

The five contests are:-

  • Big and mid-sized companies (250 or more employees) with a high environmental impact
  • Big and mid-sized (250 or more employees) companies with a medium environmental impact
  • Big and mid-sized (250 or more employees) companies with a low environmental impact
  • Small companies (50-249 employees) with a high or medium environmental impact
  • Small companies (50-249 employees) with a low environmental impact
