There are plenty of environmental awards these days, but the Best Green Companies award is unique. Its robust methodology measures environmental performance and, crucially, surveys staff to ensure that corporate green glow is not just window dressing. This year, almost 27,000 employees contributed to the survey.
The winners were announced at the awards ceremony held at Kensington Roof Gardens on the 26th May. Heading the list and winning the overall prize was office supplies company UKOS. Their initiative of sending goods in reusable containers that fold flat recieved the highest overall green positive score from employees. Estimates say that the use of reusable containers saves the equivalent of 18 trees over a five year period. Second in the list was Skanska UK who have made great strides in encouraging sustainability and have invested in video conferencing and web meetings to cut down travel costs. Third in the list was power generation company Infinis.
